The name Melina is rooted in Greek origin and derives from the Greek word for "honey". "Mel" can be derived from the name Melissa meaning "honey-bee". The restaurant is named after the daughter of Co-Founder Chef Dimitri Moshovitis. “Melina” will honor the strength of the matriarchy in the Greek family. We are "regulars" at Clyde's Tower Oaks Lodge. We like the variety on the menu and quality of the food, the really excellent service, and the ambiance especially in "The Great Room' which is an authentic Adirondack lodge moved to Maryland. Favorites on the menu include the Icelandic Cod, the Chicken #1 Sandwich, burgers, and their chili (which combined with a side salad is a full meal). Rotating items on the menu which are also great include the French dip sandwich, anything with crabmeat, and various tacos. Their take on a cob salad (linear instead of round) is delicious.

We had a delightful lunch. The wait staff rushed freshly baked bread to our table. The limoncello cake was superb. The view out the window was lovely. The gnocchi was delicious with a very generous portion and flavorful seasonings. The table was ready when we arrived a little early. The wine selection was good.

Impeccable service. Welcoming staff and atmosphere. Brilliant sauces. The house-made bread is wonderful, as is the baked squash dish. Desserts are divine (the custard and ice cream -wow!). Portions might be a tad bigger, but were delicious (lamb skewer and baked cod). I wish I didn't have to speak without raising my voice (perhaps a bit of sound abatement would help?). All in all, a lovely dining experience.
