THE WOODSMAN IS A TRULY BRITISH RESTAURANTWe use the best British ingredients, all sourced as sustainably as possible.We love using Wild food, and harvest much of it ourselves. All the meat on our menus is “nose to tail” so the menu is ever changing, and we waste nothing. We even employ our own head ranger to keep the deer herds on the land we manage under control, and have our own deer larder in the Cotswolds where this amazing product is processed.Our fish comes from day boats in Cornwall.We work with the seasons, ensuring the very best truly local veg is with us the day after its picked. Our food is cooked over wood from local plantations, and charcoal coppiced less than 20 miles away.We know the story of everything on the menu.Our lovely staff are extremely well informed, so, do ask questions on anything you’re not sure of.We hope you love this restaurant as much as we do and keep coming back.

Located in the heart of Stratford-Upon-Avon, on Rother Street, it boasts over 475-years of history between its characterful walls. Recently refurbished, the welcoming décor pays tribute to Stratford’s most famous former resident, William Shakespeare as well as incorporating a nod to its owners, the historic Brewing House, Davenports which was established in 1829.     Wonderful Sunday lunch today. Wish I had booked last night too. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were all very amenable and efficient. All of them were excellent which is a good sign. Very pleasant atmosphere.

    A most enjoyable Saturday evening. A little quieter than usual post Christmas. We had venison and linguine both of which were superb and generous portions. Very relaxed atmosphere and great service.

    We had a lovely night at Baserri on Christmas Eve. The food was incredible, the wine tasting perfect and both the owners made a point of coming and talking to us (one of them coming from a couple of miles up the road from me in South London). A really great night that we’ll both treasure against a backdrop of a difficult few months. Really really well done and thank you to the whole team at Baserri

    Totally exceeded my expectations. Fabulous service, setting and food. Beautiful calm, graceful ambience with warm helpful staff and every item on the menu was first rate. A pleasant surprise that unlimited teas, any type of coffee and hot chocolate were included in afternoon tea and the rose fizz to accompany goes perfectly as an add on. A special start to Christmas and a refined yet relaxed oasis in which to enjoy it at leisure. Highly recommended thank you - we will be back.
