We opened on Valentine’s Day in 1953 in downtown Clinton, NY, and we’ve been sharing our love of good food and drink as a community gathering place ever since. John and Laura Alteri opened the doors and managed the restaurant until John’s death in 1960. We rebuilt after a fire in 1963, and the tradition was carried on by John’s son and daughter-in-law, Fernando “Feet” and Beverly, until 1998. Today, third-generation owner Fran Alteri manages his family’s warm, home-styled restaurant and seasoned bar, bringing people together with classic food, beer, wine and spirits. Share a table with your friends or family for casual dining and try our famous pizza, pasta, sandwiches, soup and more, or just find a stool at the bar and we can chat over one of our many craft beers.

A TASTE OF TRADITIONThe original Carmella's Cafe, located in New Hartford, New York, opened in 1985. Our goal was to provide our guests with the warmth, charm and quality of a local "Mom & Pop" restaurant with the consistency and controls of a well managed chain. Went with a group of 9. Some things were cold (mashed potatoes, appetizer meatballs)… but everything was very tasty. Our waiter seemed a little rushed/busy, but still provided excellent service. We appreciated the small, private room for our larger group.
