The Armory Lounge in the Portland Regency Hotel & Spa is a popular bar and restaurant in downtown Portland’s Old Port district. Located in the lower lobby of the hotel, the Armory Lounge provides a cozy atmosphere for hotel guests, and is also considered one of the best bars in downtown Portland by locals. Known for its delicious and inventive cocktails, the Armory also has a wide variety of wine and beer, including several local Maine craft beers. We were very impressed with our server, who was very attentive, helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was very good, indeed the pan seared Haddock was exceptional. However, the room was so dark that all of us kept using our phone flashlights to see the menu and the food enters when they would arrive. When you can't enjoy seeing the food you are eating, the ambiance or mood lighting is TOO DARK.

Fantastic experience. We ended up wanting to show up a little earlier than our reservation, and they were very accommodating. The food, atmosphere and people were excellent. If you want something small, intimate, relatively quiet with an outstanding menu, this is your place. This was our third visit. We'll probably go again the next time we're in town, well done!

Even though I messed up on the reservation time and our party therefore arrived late, the hosts were very gracious, welcoming and accommodating. We were seated right away at a great table (I think any table in there would be great, truly). Our server Stefan was terrific, attentive and helpful. The drinks and food were excellent, with very interesting flavors and flavor combinations. Though it is a bit pricey, the experience is worth it and I highly recommend it.
