Inspired by Italy’s aperitivo hour, when public squares and streets are filled with lively conversation, Portico serves handmade and authentic Italian fare in Sebastopol in western Sonoma County.A portico is a colonnade or covered walkway in classical architecture. Since the middle ages the elegant porticos of Bologna, Italy have a meeting place for the public as well as a place for business. Paolo Pedrinazzi (who is from Bologna) and Kat Escamilla, owners of the new Portico trattoria , bring this experience to Sebastopol. They even have monthly Regional dinner parties with live jazz.The setting includes an Italian fountain on their cozy patio. Portico offers light table service and counter ordering. Excellent Italian wines are sold in the restaurant at retail pricing; refreshingly unpretentious. Koshō Restaurant at The Barlow is a modern Japanese and sushi restaurant in Sebastopol with a progressive focus on food, local ingredients, and sustainability. Koshō derives its moniker from the condiment of the same name, Yuzu Koshō. We loved this new restaurant. We are neighbors so we were hopeful. The ambiance was great. Our server Alena was very attentive and the food was awesome. We are foodies and don't give 5 stars lightly. The food was great and the sauces were nuanced and flavorful. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed. We will be back.

The miso soup was excellent. Ordered the seaweed salad and it was unlike any I’ve ever had and was delicious. My friends chicken dish was also very yummy. Sushi was good, too.
