Italian inspired cuisine in a charming and beautiful country setting with outdoor dining all summer and a covered heated tent in the winter. Our stone terrace with large fireplace nestled between aromatic herb and flower gardens makes for a beautiful setting year around.Upon booking, please select either an indoor or outdoor table. "Standard" refers to an indoor table. If an outdoor table is not listed, the patio may be booked at that time. Please call us directly if your preference is not listed.Our tent is down for the summer! Tables on the patio are covered by umbrellas for protection from sun and in the case of rain. In the case of inclement weather, we will do our best to accommodate outdoor bookings indoors based on availability.Take out from 4:30pm to 8:00pm daily and can be ordered by calling us at (804) 741-4800.We are unable to accomadate parties of more than 6. We are unable to separate parties into multiple tables.

Southern Kitchen, which is known as "The Mouth of the South" to the locals, serves up comfort food favorites. From collard greens to fried fish and chicken, the eatery provides a comfortable, relaxed spot for enjoying classic Southern food, beer, and wine for lunch, and dinner. Since opening in 2014, the restaurant has focused on providing good food paired with a classy experience and great customer service. Southern Kitchen features a variety of options for starting the meal, including fried oysters, fried okra, southern rolls, and salad.     The nightly specials are amazing. I had the Rockfish. It was cooked to perfection and the veggies served with it complimented it nicely. A little loud inside the tent, but other than that, 10 out of 10!

    We were greeted by a group of engaging and energetic group of managers and hostesses for the restaurant and shown to our table. Sarah was our server for the evening and she was knowledgable and engaging! She was super helpful with food selections and navigating the menu. Food was fantastic! The steaks and side were outstanding. We will definitely be back!

    Helen’s is such a treat! Fun, kitschy decor and incredible food. Such a gem in RVA. Can be pricey if you do it up like we did but it’s worth it.

    Amazing meal to celebrate our anniversary. The restaurant is beautiful and feels like a very nice but comfortable environment. Amazing transformation of the building! And a great addition to the Midlothian area! Stella was extremely personable and helpful with her suggestions. The steaks were excellent, as were the Buratta appetizer and all sides. Excellent meal - but a pricey one (as any classy steakhouse would be) Also enjoyed the special Cab Franc bottled for the restaurant - excellent pairing! We look forward to returning to celebrate another special occasion!

    This was my first time dining at Southern Kitchen. I was pleased with the service, ambiance, and the food. I felt like it was a bit overpriced, but it wasn't anything we couldn't handle. For example, a shot of Hennessey was $30...we got 2. I was surprised to see the owner out and about and making thing happen. She smiled at us and thanked us for dining at the restaurant. I will definitely dine again.
