Kokkari (pronounced “Ko-Kar-ee”) is a small fishing village located on the islands of Samos in the Aegean Sea, whose name is derived from the small onions that were once produced in the nearby fields. Beautiful Modern Mediterranean restaurant by Chefs Laura and Sayat (Star Chefs and San Francisco Chronicle Rising Stars) at the Main Parade Lawn in the heart of the Presidio National Park.     This was such a wonderful experience, from greeting to farewell! The ambiance is casual yet sophisticated. The cocktails were great and they have an extensive wine list. The food was delectable, unusual yet usual pairings kept us intrigued and excited for each new dish. Overall, would highly recommend!

    Excellent service from beginning to end. Our waiter was superb. Food was heavenly as always. Always a special treat to celebrate occassions here. Disappointed though they don’t do the complimentary birthday desserts anymore. We ordered desserts but HOPR used to also do a fun little free birthday dessert for the birthday guests.

    The clam linguine was delicious. I drank the leftover broth. The bar seat is right front of the raw seafood guy. It was an experience watching him shuck oysters and assemble the raw seafood entrees. Service was attentive without being invasive. And they helpfully recharged my phone as it was at 1% having flown from New Zealand. A great way to spend part of a 10 hour layover.

    This was the best meal I have had in a while! Inventive dishes with great flavor, yet very accessible and well priced for the quality. It was fun to have smaller tapas plates to share and be able to try more delicious dishes!
