Canteen is a casual Wine Bar from Chef Greg Kuzia-Carmel, of Camper fame. The restaurant is conveniently located at the corners of Oak Grove + Garwood avenues in Menlo Park just a short hop and skip away from the Menlo Park Caltrain Station. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable but did not hang around and interrupt our dinner. The food was outstanding, the Patatas Bravas were crispy and flavorful, the octopus was tender and had just the right amount of char on it, and the churros were well balanced with a crunchy exterior a slightly chewy interior and not overly sweet like so many churros you get in a restaurant.

After giving the server mild ribbing over the soft serve “swirl” actually not being a swirl and that the cookies that normally accompany not present, the manager came by and offered some cookies that had been set aside (baker was absent that day) and to comp us the non-swirl swirl. We accepted the cookies and declined the comp, but it was a GREAT gesture!
