République, located in Miracle Mile, is owned by Chefs Walter and Margarita Manzke. Centered in the heart of Los Angeles, the historic building in which it resides was originally erected in 1929 by Charlie Chaplin, and later transformed into the iconic La Brea Bakery and Campanile Restaurant. Chef/Owner Ludo Lefebvre puts his spin on classic French flavors including the cult-favorite Big Mec burger, swimming in rich Bordelaise sauce, perfectly roasted Heritage chicken with compressed potatoes fried in clarified butter, a French Dip sandwich served with a version of the restaurant's onion soup for dipping, and lots more. Had a wonderful time celebrating my partner's birthday. The food was delicious, the service was great, and the restaurant's ambiance was perfect. We loved the location and the decorations, it's a beautiful restaurant, it reminded me of old L.A. We will definitely be coming back for more.

The experience at Openaire this morning was so such a lovely way to spend our first meal of 2025. The staff was very special . So warm , attentive , intentional and present ! We truly felt like guests in someone's home . The food matched the rest of the sweet vibe at Openaire . If we lived closer we would come more often . h and when we left they also greeted us a warm goodbye and showed appreciation for us coming.

The food was outstanding and the service was excellent. There are so many "fancy" restaurants in Los Angeles where the food is disappointing, but this was not one of them. Having known about Republique for many years and seeing it on many "best" lists I was prepared to be disappointed, but it met my expectations. My parents and I were very pleased with our meal, the service, and the ambience which is beautiful. It qualifies as one of the best restaurants we've eaten at in Los Angeles, and is deserving of its designation as one of LA's top restaurants.
