Enjoy a cocktail, local wine or craft beer, Share a snack or two in our dedicated Bar.Smell the delicious smokiness of Bendigo’s only dedicated steakhouse & grill, where we use local redgum on the grill; there’s nothing quite like the flavour of meat cooked over redgum. The natural smoky flavours and aromas created by this unique timber are something truly special. In the finest tradition of steakhouses, we use locally sourced meat and the very best in fresh, regional produce.Showcasing 350 wines, including 28 by the glass, including some seriously interesting wines curated by our inhouse Sommelier. With local wines taking pride of place, including some intriguing European offerings, plus a supporting cast of spirits, beers and other beverages, including a decent alcohol-free selection. Cocktail drinkers will be impressed with our seasonally curated list.Our menu is updated seasonally and available on our website.

All our menus created by our amazing head chef..The restaurant, recently recognized as having the best food and service in the state offers an a la carte menu that changes seasonally. Our pub fare reigns in the public bar.Reservations are taken for lunch and dinner in our restaurant. We strongly recommend to book to avoid disappointment.

Welcome to Nouveau Restaurant & Cellar Door.We are located at Balgownie Estate in Maiden Gully. Balgownie Estate is Bendigo’s oldest commercial Vineyard. We have been producing award winning wines from our first vintage back in 1972. Today you can visit our restaurant and cellar door and taste from our extensive selection of wines made from hand harvested fruit grown on their beautiful old vines that are now over 50 years old. Whilst here, take the opportunity to, dine in our restaurant for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Our menus feature contemporary Seasonal Australian Cuisine, sourced from premium local suppliers. For Breakfast enjoy a romantic Champagne Breakfast (our version of it anyway…!)

Bendigo features a new Cellar Door, open-air deck, and a charming regional restaurant.The property is home to 70 acres of vineyards and winery plus modern homestead, and glamping accommodation.Winemaker Tony Winspear has been nurturing the Estate’s grapevines from bud to bottle since 1994, a hands-on winemaker, and very much at home in the cellar using traditional low intervention techniques.Our Grazing Menu is served from Monday to Friday in our Cellar Door Space or on the deck, Dinner is served Thursday to Tuesday in the Restaurant space or on the deck.

    We are their newest regulars! It was a milestone birthday for my Mum and we couldn’t fault the day. Mum had a great time, the food and it’s presentation was perfect, and the service was the best. Thank you Whitby’s!

    My friend and I enjoyed the beautiful day, view, delicious food and bubbles. We had excellent service with friendly knowledgeable staff. Being able to enjoy the experience in the peaceful ambience of the vineyard.

    This is our favourite restaurant in Bendigo, so when our friends from Sweden decided to visit, we knew where we would dine. Staff are awesome, helpful, knowledgeable and attentive. Food is always generous and spot on. We had king prawns. Beautiful! Three had duck, which was amazing and beautifully presented, while one had a perfect eye fillet. We opted for three sides, most of which we couldn’t finish. Then a shared tasting plate of desserts and a cheese plate, all delicious! My only problem was it was a bit noisy, so conversation was tricky at times. Needless to say, we will be back!
