Visitors to the Las Vegas Strip in the mood for authentic southern cuisine need look no further than the just-like-Grandma-used-to-make dishes of Executive Chef Mario Nichols, a transplant from the kitchen of this restaurant's North Carolina original location. Grandma is real, too: Nellie was the grandmother of Kevin Jonas, Sr., "Papa Jonas" to the fans of his famous sons, and the founder of Nellie's. The food - including freshmade biscuits, shrimp and grits, and chicken and dumplins, shares top billing with Nellie's hospitality and decor. The gorgeous venue, located within the District of MGM Grand, opposite the Grand Garden Arena and close to Wet Republic, Top Golf and the MGM convention center, is open 7 days for lunch and dinner.     I sat in the bar area for Happy Hour at a low top and ended up eating dinner there. The service was great, the food was very good, and it wasn’t overly loud.

    Every item we ordered was DELICIOUS: garlic wontons, wonton stars (perfect ratio of crab & cream cheese), hot & sour soup, orange chicken, spicy honey chicken. The Ube-berry Lavender Okinawa Snow dessert was the show-stopper!! So unique and one of the very best desserts we’ve had in a long time. Our server, Marcela, was the right balance of attentive, personable and professional. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! We’ll be back!

    .. .. I enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving Meal on Thanksgiving Day. The turkey was moist, tasty and I cut it with my fork. The carrots and Brussel sprouts were crisp and not overly cooked. Yeah, yeah, the stuffing and mashed sweet potatoes tasted homemade. My dinner was served by a Gem named Lynette who seemed to read my mind. Hey. I'm a boomer. Atmosphere? They always have really good, loud, rock and roll, 🎶 And I like it, like it, yes I do 🎶

    Leo was an amazing server. Friendly and personable. Made excellent recommendations for dinner. If you eat there, ask for Leo!!!! Food was fantastic. Chef's Special that night was gumbo with blackened catfish and jumbo shrimp over mashed potatoes. Delicious. We also had the braised short-ribs. Fork tender, fall off the bone perfection. Served with roasted honey carrots that melt in your mouth.
