This magical Edwardian building has been transformed to a beautiful bar, restaurant and private room where we hope to deliver to our customers an experience you won’t find anywhere else in Newcastle. Join us to dine in our elegant brasserie which aims to serve classic dishes, including a generous Sunday lunch, using the very best ingredients with plenty of flavor but no fuss or in the bar for some light bites and fantastic drinks curated by a team of some of Newcastle best mixologists.Above all we want you to relax, enjoy the music and feel at home here at Hibou Blanc.Please note our bar operates on a walk-in only basis, and you can book our main restaurant to enjoy both our lunch and our a la carte menu. Blackfriars is located in a 13th century medieval friary where it once served as the refectory for the Dominican friars, making it one of the oldest purpose-built dining rooms in the UK.The restaurant serves a classic, gutsy British menu sourcing seasonal produce from local farms and markets accompanied by a large award-winning wine list. It also has an adjoining 50-seat Banquet Hall for private parties and weddings and above the restaurant is a Cookery School and Wine/Beer/Whisky Tasting Room.     Tucked away close to Newcastle's thousand-year-old castle, the French Quarter is a gem that provides a memorable dining experience. It offers a harmonious blend of exceptional food, warm service, and an inviting ambience. The menu is thoughtfully curated, with French-inspired dishes that highlight a perfect marriage of flavours and freshness. On my visit, I began with an exquisite Rillettes de Porc with some off-menu toasted bread. I followed this with an indulgent Bœuf Bourguignon accompanied by a tangy Gratin Dauphinois and fresh Haricot Vert. The staff were an absolute delight—attentive, friendly, and passionate about their work. They were happy to make recommendations, explaining food combinations with detail and enthusiasm. Every interaction felt personal, adding an extra layer of warmth to my visit. The restaurant offered subtle touches of a French bistro, a cosy yet sophisticated charm. It's perfect for both intimate dinners and lively group get-togethers. It's not budget dining, but the quality of the food, impeccable service, and overall experience justify the cost. Portions are generous, and each dish feels crafted with care. Whether you're a fan of French cuisine or just looking for a memorable culinary experience, the French Quarter delivers on all fronts. I will certainly return.

    We were given a lunch voucher for a present and we really enjoyed our visit. All three courses that we chose were delicious and the meal came with 2 glasses of fizzy. The restaurant has an interesting history and had a pleasant atmosphere.

    This is some of the best food in Newcastle. My Dover sole was slightly over but the other dishes were on point. Great service and the ambience is always lively which I love, can’t wait to go back.
