Owner Brian Piccini is proud of his award-winning Restaurant & Bar, Deuxave in the Back Bay. The Merchant is a big space that served for more than a century as a leather store. We've brought in high-top tables near the windows ... a 40-foot bar on one side of the room … and more formal dining spots on the opposite side. We have a private dining room in back, and another private dining room downstairs. For our menu, we make almost all of our fare from scratch. Executive chef Ignacio Lopez previously worked at both Beat Hotel in Cambridge and Tuscan Kitchen in Burlington. Chef Lopez cures and smokes all the meat in house. Our burger is top-notch, as are other dishes like house-made Gnochhi, Organic Chicken Milanaise and Steak Frites. The Merchant serves salads, sandwiches ($15-$21), and more for the lunch rush. And for dinner, we are a full-service brasserie (with most entrees ranging from $25-$30). The bar has 30+ rotating beers on tap, many of them locally brewed, plus a full selection of craft cocktails to serve our patrons, including the after-work crowd.

This was a great experience from first minute to last - great hospitality around excellent food! We were early, seated quickly and with preferences accounted for. We had scoped six dishes in advance and opted out of one when a waygu Big Mac was offered - a most try! Server knew the menu, understood her role to guide discovery and make sure we had a great meal - 10/10 recommend! Had scallops which were amazing, different than other preparations, and truly stood out. Brussels were his favorite, and were flavorful with a maple item underneath that made it work! Risotto, alcapurrias, and mussels with lobster (only ok) rounded it out with donut dessert. Really really solid and different. Chef Chris came by to say hello - you should too, truly worthy of reputation and ranking!

This was our first visit to Forage and it was remarkable. Quiet but friendly ad passionate people working there who were happy to take many questions about the food, never rushing but also bringing out each course in just the right time. Two of our party are vegan and the server marked up our menu showing which dishes could be made vegan, which was so helpful. And the food was AMAZING. Just unbelievably good. 10 our of 10!!

The food was excellent, and the service was even better. Nice change to have a relatively quiet restaurant these days even though the tables were nearly all occupied. Ambience is perfect.

Even though we were 30 minutes late due to Boston traffic they held our table!! Excellent service and food. The steak frites was the best I ever had!! Can’t wait to go again.
