Bringing 1940s Paris to modern-day Edinburgh, Café St Honoré restaurant is a charming bistro serving up traditional French cuisine (with a few Scottish favourites thrown in) to a loyal clientele. Tucked away on a picturesque cobbled lane in the New Town, the cosy dining room at Café St Honore, with mirrored walls and black-and-white tiled floors, provides an atmospheric retreat. The team here are passionate about local, organic produce, so the menu changes daily. There are prix fixe menus on offer at lunch and dinner if you’re after a bargain, or just need an excuse to indulge in dessert. In the evening, a seasonal menu du jour is available alongside the full a la carte, which features dishes like roast pheasant with red cabbage and pancetta; Our warming Cafe St Honore Cassoulet; and vanilla crème brûlée. The Blackbird Bar and Restaurant, at 37-39 Leven Street in the Bruntsfield area of south-west Edinburgh, serves modern Scottish cuisine. It is located close to The Meadows public park, less than 10 minutes by car or taxi from Waverley and Haymarket Railway Stations; Edinburgh Castle and the city centre are around 20 minutes' walk away. The exposed stone walls of its traditional, tavern-like interior give it an authentically Scottish atmosphere and it also has a beer garden in which to enjoy an al fresco drink or bite to eat in the warmer summer months. The Blackbird’s menu is composed of gourmet burgers, fresh fish of the day, hearty soups and sumptuous salads, to be accompanied by something from the drinks menu – a glass of craft beer, premium ale or fine wine, perhaps – organic teas and coffees are also available.

We came here a year and a half ago and I have been craving the baked eggs with goats cheese ever since! Today we ordered that (obviously), eggs Benedict with spinach and mushrooms, a green juice to round it out, coffee, snd a flat white. Everything was as delicious as I remembered and our next stay in Edinburgh will include a repeat visit!

Excellent lunch at Hawksmoor food was delicious we chose the quick lunch menu which was great value for money. Staff friendly and attentive without being in your face and lovely surroundings

This is not a cheap option for lunch, but for a special occasion or treat, it is one of my favourite places in Edinburgh. The food, service and ambience are consistently exceptional. Definitely need to book in advance. The phone was busy all lunchtime with people looking for a table that night but they were fully booked.
