Maria Rondeau and JuanMa Calderón of Boston's award-winning Celeste (Eater Boston's 2018 Restaurant of the Year and Esquire Best New Restaurant) and Esmeralda in Vermont (Esquire's 2021 list of Best New Restaurant in America), open La Royal, their newest Peruvian restaurant down the block from their Cambridge home. Forcella is bringing old-world Italian food to the North End of Boston.Nino Trotta — who owns Forcella alongside his girlfriend, general manager and co-owner Shannon MacGowan, and his brother, wine director Christian Trotta — say that the cozy, candlelit vibe of the restaurant sets Forcella apart in a sea of massive North End restaurants.“It’s tiny, 30 seats,” he said. “It’s perfect for a date.”The kitchen team has designed a menu that includes dishes from all over Italy, with a slight lean toward Naples, where the Trotta family is from. Primi dishes include meatballs, crispy quail, while pastas range from linguine alle vongole and risotto to gnocchi with braised rabbit. Salmon, ribeye, round out the menu.

Drinks were excellent - the white sangria is the perfect winter drink. Tapas was good. Very solid place. A little noisy and big but overall a good date night or night with friends!

Food was absolutely amazing as usual. Everything came out super quick too. We devoured everything so hard we lost track of time, and were fighting for space in the hot plate like a bunch of goblins. Server wasn't particularly attentive as he didn't come to our table at all after placing our order, even when cashing out. Also, we never received our shrimp order but to be honest we didn't notice until the end due to the chaos and already massive amount of food on the table. Would recommend, get the group combos.

We had not been to Bistro 5 in a few years, and it was even better than we remembered! Menu was varied, food was delicious and service was outstanding! Definitely will return.
