The Merchant is a big space that served for more than a century as a leather store. We've brought in high-top tables near the windows ... a 40-foot bar on one side of the room … and more formal dining spots on the opposite side. We have a private dining room in back, and another private dining room downstairs. For our menu, we make almost all of our fare from scratch. Executive chef Ignacio Lopez previously worked at both Beat Hotel in Cambridge and Tuscan Kitchen in Burlington. Chef Lopez cures and smokes all the meat in house. Our burger is top-notch, as are other dishes like house-made Gnochhi, Organic Chicken Milanaise and Steak Frites. The Merchant serves salads, sandwiches ($15-$21), and more for the lunch rush. And for dinner, we are a full-service brasserie (with most entrees ranging from $25-$30). Our brunch buffet was out of this world scrumptious! The food was replenished as needed, displays were lovely and most of all kept immaculate! The whole staff: hostess, buffet servers, waiters, waitresses, etc. were extremely pleasant, happy to be of service, attentive to our requests and made our dining experience a memorable one! Special thanks to Brit and Cristen for their kind hospitality and expertise (sorry if i forgot a few names, everyone was outstanding)! Team work makes the dream work! Second time in and our party of five had a fantastic experience, equal parts food, drink, service (especially waitress with impeccable timing) and ambience. Octopus, endive salad, lamb chops, filet, duck club, burgers - all delicious and prepared exactly as requested, including GF accommodation. A Manhattan heavy on specifics was expert-crafted, sub-zero cold and delivered at the perfect time. Great music heavy on classic indie played loud enough to hear but low enough to talk normally. We’ll be back for sure!

Experiencing our 63rd anniversary was special. The steaks were incredible and like nothing else we’ve experienced! The service and atmosphere were so spectacular. We have celebrated yearly with Capital Grille and hopefully will continue! We were treated to a complimentary dessert and had our photo taken as well!

Even though we were 30 minutes late due to Boston traffic they held our table!! Excellent service and food. The steak frites was the best I ever had!! Can’t wait to go again.
