The deep channel buoy, R10, is known amongst local boaters, paddlers and seafarers of all kinds (especially the seal variety) as a meeting spot. Named after this buoy located just off the Redondo Harbor, our 90-seat neighborhood joint is a new American social house offering market driven food, well-crafted cocktails and a selection of intriguing, affordable wines. In a setting of reclaimed chic with nautical nods, locals can meet up for a quick bite or linger over a meal with friends and family while taking in the scenic waterfront views. At Zoku, we are deeply committed to quality in every aspect of our menu. We work with local sommeliers in our wine selection, many of which are regionally sourced, that complement our appetizers and skewers. Our chefs have trained in “Hinai Jidori”, a prestigious level of yakitori training, dedicating thousands of hours in Japan to perfect their craft. With careful attention to flavors, textures, and colors, the dishes are crafted to provide a thoughtful and immersive dining experience rather than just a quick bite. From tables and chairs crafted in Japan to dishware carefully selected from around the world for each dish, we aim to blend authentic Japanese cuisine with the Redondo Beach aesthetic. We also use traditional Japanese 備長炭 binchotan charcoal instead of electricity or gas to impart unique flavors that only this specialized charcoal can achieve in yakitori.

    My last two meals were different sizes of the rib eye steak. Both time I ordered it medium and both times it was medium rare. Also, neither was a particularly good cut; not nearly as tasty as the top sirloin that I usually order.

    We had a business meeting that started a little later than expected due to traffic. But the service was so awesome that I forgot all about it. We had sliders and Parmesan french fries that were amazing. Such a great experience. The server was so sweet that she was able to set a table on the inside because it was chilly out and she made the inside bar area stunning. Such a nice experience.

    We visited on Monday, December 9 for my son’s 21st birthday. I wanna say our server’s name was Isaac. I’m not sure I got that right but he was absolutely amazing. We sat at the table right next to the front entrance. He was the best server. We had a great time and we truly appreciated him making it a great night.

    Wow! I can’t say enough good things about this place. We needed this place in the Riviera. In the Month of October they are celebrating their one year anniversary, so there are a lot of fun creative specials going on the entire month. Perfect chance to find and taste all their delicious high-grade food. The service is top-notch and the ambience perfection! I love that this is a local family that owns it. The community is really starting to rally around this gem discovering the phenomenal food and great service!
