Located at Atherton Mill in Charlotte's historic South End neighborhood, Indaco (Italian for "indigo") serves Italian cuisine. Wood-fired pizzas, hand-crafted pastas, housemade salami and cured sausages fill the restaurant's menu which can be enjoyed family-style or a la carte. With an open kitchen, and a comfortable atmosphere, Indaco can seat approximately 85 guests inside for a casual night of food and drinks. The wine list is focused on affordable Italian varietals, the Gin & Tonic cocktail is on tap, and the fresh sodas are made in-house. Large windows fill the restaurant with natural light that reflects off the white subway tile, wood accents and butcher block tables. Atmosphere is fabulous, the service is outstanding as was the food. Cannot recommend enough! They were especially attentive to my dietary restrictions, + we did not feel rushed to finish our bottle of wine. This place is a gem.

They just opened for lunch during weekdays and was our first visit for lunch (been there for dinner a few times). Great experience. Had a pizza and a salad to share with my wife. Prices feel a tad high, especially for the salad during lunch, but you get quality food and service (you want cheap counter service, go to Fuel or Inizzio). Great additional option in SouthEnd for lunch.

If there was a .5 option I would’ve given 4.5 stars for food and value. The bread lacked flavor unfortunately—it could’ve used a better garlic butter glaze on top (tasted like the salt was missing from the dough). Alternatively a salted butter for the table could’ve been offered. Other than that, the food was amazing and the waitress had excellent recommendations. The butcher’s cut was amazing, creamed corn crème brûlée is a must. I’d go there again for any occasion.
