Entering the Saloon, a family owned restaurant since it opened in 1967 is a bit like stepping into Philadelphia's past. Dark oak paneling, shiny brass and authentic local antiques create a warm congenial and casual atmosphere. The choice of two comfortable dining rooms each with its own vintage bars make dining and conversation a relaxed and enjoyable experience. Both bars feature a delicious and moderately priced food menu. The menu is Italian with seafood specials such as grilled octopus and dover sole. Saloon steaks and veal chops are legendary.     Was great way to celebrate the new year. Food is very reasonably priced, and is served family style. Great portions. The cool on the sea bass was amazing, it melted like butter and the veg complimented it well. The plum sake was a favorite of the alcohol, and the sunrise was the favorite of the mock-tails, best served with a splash of sparkling water. Overall was a great experience and will be returning especially to have ray as our server. He was fantastic.

    Overall, it was a great experience. I had an anniversary dinner here with my wife, and we loved the food and atmosphere. The service was exceptional. It's out of our typical price range, but it is in the heart of Philadelphia, so it is to be expected. It was a night to remember!

    Me and my boyfriend decided to eat in this restaurant for the suggestive location but I have to say that also the food was really good. What we took was satisfying: the mussels were very fresh and also the halibut was great. The non-fish options were also good. Service was enjoyable but very discreet, which allowed us to have enjoy the night together and we really appreciated that. We had a great time and part of it was thanks to the staff; we asked a couple of pictures and they were really nice and had no problem doing that. We would just give a couple tips for the restaurant. We thought that it would be great to implement tablecloths on the restaurant’s tables to make it even nicer than it already is. A second tip is to offer some type of discount or a small tasting of another dish if the item requested by costumers is no longer available or cannot be prepared. Other than that our experience was very satisfying.

    Was a delightful classic Italian meal. We had pasta and seafood dishes and everything was outstanding. The mussels in white wine sauce were particularly delicious. The service was exceptional. I’ve been here a few times in the 70s/80s and it was fun to take our children there! ❤️
