The Canteen is a full-service neighbourhood restaurant in Downtown Dartmouth, serving up chef-inspired seasonal fare for lunch, brunch and dinner. At the helm in the kitchen is award-winning chef and co-owner Renee Lavallee. Her seasonal menus are influenced by classic French, Italian and traditional Nova Scotian cuisine – with a little bit of Renée’s magic thrown in.     I will say this is the best special occasion dinner I have ever had in Halifax! The steak was melt in your mouth good and the Brussel sprouts side with a beautiful rich BBQ sauce was even as good 😊 Mike, was our wonderful waiter who provided an excellent experience. Will definitely choose thie location for our treat location again and again! 🥰🙌🤩

    Fantastic…. And I do mean FANTASTIC. Only one small downside is that the seating at the bar was not comfortable, low backs, slope away seating wasn’t good. Apart from that this place is a GEM! We’ve been before & will go back again!

    This was the best restaurant meal I've had in years. We thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. The only small issue was that the space was kind of drafty and on a cold winter night, you could really feel the chill. We were kindly seated near a radiator so that took the edge of the cold. Thanks for a great meal!

    We had an amazing birthday dinner at the keg! The service was probably the best service we’ve ever had. Both meals were obviously incredible. Intimate fine dining experience, we will be back!
