Walk-in's always welcome! Screen Door is a restaurant that presents itself as a love letter to the American South and the revival of regional cooking. Each day, the restaurant receives natural, local organic meats and produce from nearby vendors. The inclusion of regional Pacific Northwest ingredients into a menu of dishes developed in the south has created a unique flavor profile in Screen Door's menu. Many of Screen Doors dishes draw their inspiration from Louisiana and the Cajun cooking that's found there. These include our world-famous fried chicken, Lowcountry shrimp and grits, smoked andouille chicken gumbo and fried okra. Other items, like the house-smoked beef brisket and braised pork shoulder, come straight from the state of Texas. The food at Roots was excellent. We have never had better halibut anywhere. Possibly the filet mignon had too many flavors for the taste of the delicious meat to come through, but everything else was very good. The service was wonderful and especially understanding as we tried to accommodate and corral the toddler in our party. I would go back to Roots in a heartbeat!

This restaurant is truly incredible! We did the tasting menu and every single dish was OUTSTANDING, including the cocktails. The service was also wonderful and everyone was super friendly. 10/10 experience!

We had a wonderful dining experience as always. Menu selection was outstanding. Dishes were prepared well and delicious. Waiter was attentive and professional. All four of us enjoyed ourselves immensely.

Nostrana is an (almost) hidden Portland treasure! The space and ambiance is warm yet epic, the entire staff seems to be operating on another level from other fine dining restaurants in Portland; they're engaged, friendly, warm, and yet professional and perfectionistic in the best possible ways. The food, all of it, was super-fresh and really special. Might have something to do with them having their own chef's garden right across the street. I can't recommend this place highly enough.
