The name Melina is rooted in Greek origin and derives from the Greek word for "honey". "Mel" can be derived from the name Melissa meaning "honey-bee". The restaurant is named after the daughter of Co-Founder Chef Dimitri Moshovitis. “Melina” will honor the strength of the matriarchy in the Greek family. Claudio Pirollo grew up in Belgium where he soon discovered his passion for cooking as he wandered around his father’s fine Italian épicerie (grocery store) and watched his mother prepare dinner every day. The dual influence of Italy and Belgium triggered Chef Pirollo’s aspirations to develop his knowledge and experience with different flavors.A Trattoria is not a pizzeria, it is an Italian-style eating establishment that is generally much less formal than a ristorante but more formal than an osteria. For a treat to yourself go to Claudio's Table, a little pricey as everything down to the bread is a la carte...however, it is excellent! My short ribs were perfect and my mom's branzino was grilled to a moist and delectable turn....be ready to spend >$100 for two and save room for dessert.

Everything is excellent. They just need to lower music a little bit and play something more soothing (eg Soft Jazz, Bossa Nova), that constant loud drum beat can be annoying at times. No one likes that music they play. Other than that, everything was great. Reading worth it.

Delicious food! We asked for a quiet part of the restaurant, and the hostess seated us in their back room. For most of the meal, we had that space all to ourselves and we were able to enjoy the food, the drinks, and the conversation. That made a perfect evening!
