Paul Dobson, the namesake for Dobson's bar and restaurant, is one of America's few professional Bullfighters. One thing that both local San Diegans and Zagat can agree on is that this is one of the top restaurants in San Diego. Due to the limited seating and popularity, reservations are highly recommended. Owner Paul Dobson "works a room better than Sinatra", which explains why this "local tradition" downtown remains, "after all these years", a "high-powered, hobnob spot"; the Cal kitchen "serves up delicious, innovative food, along with old standbys" ("have the mussel bisque and think of heaven").

We had the chef's tasting menu, and every selection was beyond delicious. The sake and wine selections suggested by our server created the perfect pairings for a magnificent dinner. Nobu is THE BEST!!!!

Roy’s has always been a fave for our family! The butterfish entree was delicious and the bread pudding excellent. Just miss their wonderful rolls they used to serve pre Covid, it’s always nice to enjoy some bread with a salad appetizer.

Came on NY’s day for lunch. Food, ambience, and service were fantastic. There was an issue initially with the hostess getting our party seated even though we had a reservation. The hostess was not very receptive, reassuring, or service oriented it seemed. But the manager eventually got involved who was amazing and got us all situated. Norma was the sweetest. Would definitely come here again :)
