We serve food that, more often than not, accesses that part of our deepest soul where genuine expression can flow forth. We have always tried to give our food and service our best selves, as honest and vulnerable as we can muster. We strive to be a place where you might actually have a real connection; maybe with your server, maybe with your food or maybe with your possibly gracious host who is ACTUALLY glad you’re there. Oh, you wanted a restaurant description? Sorry. Can’t really help you there. We’re not so big on labels. Our food is hard to nail down as we are constantly evolving and entirely seasonal and personal. We’ve used “Food you eat” as a tag line on occasion and that remains accurate. We could also describe it as “Food we really want you to eat”. When you’re here, tell us what you would call it.

Kokkari (pronounced “Ko-Kar-ee”) is a small fishing village located on the islands of Samos in the Aegean Sea, whose name is derived from the small onions that were once produced in the nearby fields.     Always the best service in town. From the hostess to bartender to our server, everyone has our unique experiences in mind. In the hospitality world we talk a lot about “surprise and delight” moments for guests, of varying size depending on the group, occasion, etc, and foreign cinema always gets them JUUUST right. Not to mention the food is always superb

    FireFly is amazing! We've been going there for years, not very often but we should probably go more. We enjoyed an amazing day-after-Valentine's Day dinner with excellent champagne and wine. Food is always top-of-the-line gourmet yet familiar comfort food. The chicken is always amazing and I ventured to try the Moqueca Baiana with Rockfish, Shrimp and Scallops which was amazing. A Noe Valley institution, highly recommend.

    We had not been back to La Ciccia since the ownership change. Our waiter was excellent. Food was good but my favorite pasta dish that I was so looking forward to ( spaghetti with bottarga) was really oversauced, too much butter, and not as amazing as it used to be! The calamari was excellent, as was the wine selection. The front of house greeting was not as warm as with the previous ownership , although maybe it was because we arrived right as the restaurant was opening for the evening.
