Back after more than a two year closure following the George IV Bridge in late 2021, Merchants has undergone a full refurbishment. Merchants serves Scottish cuisine in one of the most bustling areas of Edinburgh. Had a really great first experience at Nor’ Loft last night. The lady who served us was amazing. Really extensive knowledge of the champagne on offer and helped us select something new that we’d never tried before and lived it. Will definitely book again.

Such a great evening for a family birthday. The servers were so friendly, and very knowledgeable about the menu. Food was lovely (only fault was the oysters had some shell in, which I noticed too late!) Staff could not have done enough for us. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Loved our dinner! We were at the castle lights and got a text to say our table was ready! Earlier than planned but suited us as we were cold and almost done at the castle. We headed down and were greeted with a warm welcome. Drinks and food were superb. Service was friendly and relaxed. Atmosphere was calm and not too noisey. Allergies were catered for with no fuss. We all really enjoyed our meal. Will definitely be back. Thank you! ⭐️

Not enough superlatives- I was dubious when the ceviche came out last but it was a stroke of genius by the chef - a wonderful palate cleanser to end the small plate selection perfectly - cannot recommend enough - would definitely return!
