Back after more than a two year closure following the George IV Bridge in late 2021, Merchants has undergone a full refurbishment. Merchants serves Scottish cuisine in one of the most bustling areas of Edinburgh. Up market restaurant in Edinburgh. Small portion tapas style plates, beautifully executed. We particularly enjoyed the smoked salmon, the BBQ broccoli, and the crab on crumpet. The venue and staff made for a lovely evening in Edinburgh.

We didn't eat but food looked and smelled lovely. The staff are brilliant and made our evening absolutely lovely. Wish we could have stayed longer but had a dinner engagement to get to. Will definitely return.

We came here a year and a half ago and I have been craving the baked eggs with goats cheese ever since! Today we ordered that (obviously), eggs Benedict with spinach and mushrooms, a green juice to round it out, coffee, snd a flat white. Everything was as delicious as I remembered and our next stay in Edinburgh will include a repeat visit!

Fantastic food, great service. From the Haggis Spring roll to the Chocolate pave each course was superb. Decent and well priced wine list too. A great date night for my wife and I.

Good food and great service. A service charge is added automatically but you are asked if you want it removed. I was with my partner where we spent £101 on 5 cocktails 2 mains and 2 sides which I guess is ok these days. We had the table for 90 minutes which was just about enough time to be relaxed.
