Inspired by Japanese izakayas, roughly translated as a pub or place designed for informal eating and drinking, Flesh & Buns is the first restaurant in London to specialise in gua bao buns (DIY filled steamed buns). Ah, there really is nothing more wonderfully British than a nice cup of tea and an opportunity to put your feet up, something the folk at London’s Tea and Tattle know only too well. Situated under the atmospherically delightful Arthur Probsthain Oriental and African Bookseller (est. 1903 no less), Tea and Tattle is a very English escape from the stiff upper lips of the busy streets above. Painted in a bright white, the room is light and airy despite its subterranean location, one wall featuring hand-painted Chinese wallpaper, others eclectic art works, some of course related to the business of bookselling. Cracking food, Roshana was looking after us, and she was incredible. Customer service is somewhat lacking in the majority of restaurants in London, however she was fantastic! Friendly, fun, and attentive. Thank you Roshana for a lovely evening xx Ps the potatoes are to die for!

Older dining area downstairs from a book shop. Not super fancy, which was exactly what we were looking for in our afternoon tea. The tea was good, the sandwiches were ok, and the scones were excellent. Overall, I felt like it was a good value. I would recommend Tea and Tattle.
