The name Melina is rooted in Greek origin and derives from the Greek word for "honey". "Mel" can be derived from the name Melissa meaning "honey-bee". Located in historic Blagden Alley in D.C.'s Shaw neighborhood since 2015, The Dabney continues to pay tribute to the wonderful farmers, watermen, and purveyors of the mid-Atlantic region whom provide some of the best and most unique products in the country. We celebrate these ingredients by preparing them in a large wood burning hearth which is the centerpiece of our open kitchen. Persimmon continues to be one of our go-to restaurants whenever we are in the mood to drive into Bethesda. It consistently produces excellent dinners. On our recent visit the four of us had two bouillabaisse dinners, the roast duck breast and the roast chicken. al. were excellent. We diminished things off by sharing the profiteroles. Great service. Just a terrific place.

We had a party of 7, and the service was attentive, and the food delicious. 6 people had steaks, and 1 had the vegetarian option (portobello mushroom). The mushroom portions were a bit small compared to the steak, but that is the only area for improvement to mention. The steak, frites, salad, bread and wine were exceptional. We will definitely go back, to include for large party dinners. Thank you Medium Rare Bethesda!
