Entering the Saloon, a family owned restaurant since it opened in 1967 is a bit like stepping into Philadelphia's past.     Lots of people eat here just for the experience…. And rightly so! It is quirky and fun but we have eaten here a number of times with many different people and the food is always really good… just keep in mind that fresh tomatoes in the winter aren’t great. Wished I had ordered the beet salad rather than the Victor salad.

    Boyfriend and I went and split three dishes, which came recommended from a server. Onion soup, warm shrimp salad, and the steak frites. Everything was fantastic. We ordered our steak medium, and it came out very medium rare. Our server returned it, the manager came out and apologized. They returned with a corrected steak and more frites. Definitely recommend eating the frites with the steak in one bite. Good one their own but together- chef’s kiss! All of the food was incredible, and felt like we were back in Paris for an hour. Only critique would be for the bread to come warm to the table, or the butter to be softened so it could easily spread on the bread.

    Boyfriend and I got the lamb brisket as a starter, and then the salmon for main course and Thai cucumber salad as a side. We split them all. I would probably not order the lamb again, but everything else was fantastic. Our server Francis was super kind. Great dinner and highly recommend!

    One of my favorite center city cafes. Great food, drinks and it's beautiful. We had fried shrimp, Brussel sprouts, french onion soup, chicken ceasar salad. We also had a couple christmassy drinks. Everything fun and fabulous I go at least 4 times a year. I always bring someone because it's great
