The Sword Inn Hand is a 14th Century Free House with guest rooms nestled in the beautiful rural Hertfordshire village of Westmill, a mile south of the market town of Buntingford. With bar, dining room, mature landscaped gardens and charming country inspired guest rooms, it is the perfect countryside retreat for drinking, dining and relaxing. Seasonal produce is delivered to us daily by our fantastic local suppliers, and we pride ourselves on serving delicious fine food and traditional ales.     I booked for myself, baby and sister who flew over from Australia to enjoy a tasty English roast dinner. The staff were lovely, welcoming, helpful and very accommodating as soon as we walked in. They put us in the corner as my baby had fallen asleep, answered all of our questions about the menu, and offered me a lovely tea to end the delicious meal. Food was very tasty and just right to fill us up. Meal didn’t feel heavy and was full of flavour. Thank you for a lovely meal.

    We had the pleasure of dining at the Sword in Hand this weekend. We were warmly greeted by a very pleasant young lady and shown straight to our table where we were given a few minutes to settle before our drinks order was taken. The ambience was perfect. The staff were absolutely lovely and very attentive although not intrusive. It was obvious from the moment we arrived until we left that the service they provided was very important to them. I am struggling to put into words how incredible the food was! I knew the Sword in Hand had an excellent reputation but I was completely blown away. I chose the Monkfish, Christmas Pie and Rhubarb and Berry Crumble. I’m still day dreaming about them! We enjoyed the most amazing wine I have tasted in decades. The choice of wines and cocktails was fantastic. Sadly, we are often disappointed by restaurants but this establishment has a lot to be proud of. Thank you to the lovely team at the Sword in Hand for making our night so memorable, it is now the only place we want to eat!

    Undeniably amazing. The setup was fantastic. The vibes were astonishing. The lobster pasta was phenomenal. The greek salad was amazing. The drink options were unparalleled. However, the star of the show was the Medusa Cake. 5 out of 5

    One of the best meals I’ve ever had which requires a revisit to be able to try other things on the menu. Superb service and loved the ambiance of the place. Best bread pudding dessert!
