Hawksmoor Wood Wharf is housed in an eco-friendly floating pavilion in a new riverside neighbourhood in Canary Wharf. Gently rising and falling with the tide, the main restaurant at dock-level is joined by a 120-seat waterside bar. Both include terraces with views across the water (squint your eyes and you might just see the ghosts of great ships laden with mighty lengths of timber that used to swing in and unload there). There's also a private dining room for up to 20 people named after the local legend Queenie Watts, a singer, songwriter, actor and self-confessed bawdy landlady (think Peggy Mitchell meets Joni Mitchell). The menu revolves around the best British produce the country has to offer with grass-fed dry-aged ethically reared beef, sustainable seafood from the South coast and some of the biggest hits from the Hawksmoor New York menu.

We’ve long loved Canary Wharf and it's rich history of the nearby Docklands and Billingsgate Market, yet Blacklock in a glass tower never quite fit. One look at an old disused warehouse nestled cosily in the corner of Canary Wharf underneath the train tracks of the North Dock and we knew we had found home. Feel the comforting rumble of trains passing overhead conjuring memories of some of our favourite haunts underneath the bridges in NYC - a place where, with the blinds rolled down and away from prying eyes, a decadent lunch can swiftly roll into dinner.

Fergus Henderson’s original home of “Nose to Tail Eating” opened in a former smokehouse around the corner from Smithfield Market in 1994.Celebrating the finest of indigenous British produce and making the most of what is seasonally best whilst applying straight forward cooking techniques, St. John is now celebrated as one of the 50 Best Restaurants in the World and in 2009 was awarded its first Michelin Star.Nose to tail eating means that, where appropriate, every part of the animal should be put to good use in the kitchen and so along with Roast Beef and Lemon Sole, diners will find Rolled Pig’s Spleen, Kidneys and Ox Heart, Liver and Chitterlings as well as the Roast Bone Marrow & Parsley Salad, something of a ‘signature’ dish.

Situated on level 33 of The Shard, Hutong at The Shard serves the fascinating and diverse cuisines of Northern China and is based on the much-loved restaurant of the same name in Hong Kong. Hutong at The Shard’s cuisine takes its inspiration from the dishes served in the imperial palaces of what was then Peking. Based on the ‘Lu school’ cuisine of Shandong Province, the menu artfully captures the subtlety and surprises of Northern Chinese cooking. A cocktail selection inspired by ingredients used in traditional Chinese medicine and stunning interior, complete with traditional Chinese red lanterns and beautiful hand-carved wood-panelled ‘Moon Gates’, offer London diners a new destination restaurant with panoramic views over London’s skyline. The Ivy restaurant has been a firm fixture on London’s dining and social scene since 1917. The restaurant and private room upstairs are the epitome of real glamour.     My wife and I went for her birthday and it was the best steak we have had in London. Bruno and Emily made the eve very special for us. Had an outstanding bottle of wine to complement the bone in prime rib. We will be making it our usual steak spot. Thank you Hawksmoor team!

    Fri 13/12/24 9:30pm Our 3rd time at Blacklock, we always try and fit it in on a London trip (West Country folk). Great food as always, very busy, very loud but hey it’s Friday night in Covent Garden. Highly recommend and we will be back PS The BEST Bread & Butter Pudding I have EVER had.     A group of three were seated by the window with a view towards all of Canary Wharf with its Xmas lighting, etc. Extremely accessible using the Wood Wharf exit of the Jubilee Line, it is a three-minute walk from the exit. I brought two bottles of wine on reduced corkage Monday and it was decanted and professionally served by the sommelier. The beef, side dishes and dessert were all top notch and diners left happy. Service was excellent and attentive. Great dining experience.

    Finally managed to get a table at Blacklock and it was absolutely worth the effort. Definitely one of the best, if not the best, steak and burgers we've had in London. Bone marrow was incredible. Cheesecake was heavenly! Service and ambience were energetic and attentive. Definitely will be back!
