The Yellow House Bar and Kitchen in south London’s Surrey Quays near the shopping centre is a big, warm hug of a local bar and restaurant. The owner is on site and usually in the kitchen preparing one of three menus on offer: the restaurant menu, the grill menu and the pizza menu. The Yellow House had an earlier incarnation in Plough Way, but has moved to more intimate premises with a slick, post-Industrial vibe when it comes to décor, but still the same perfectionist’s attention to detail, relaxed ambience, warm welcome and passion about the food on the plate. Locals love this place. The Yellow House European cuisine offers dependable classics like grilled Scottish beef burger on ciabatta with hand-cut chips, thin-crust pizzas from the wood-fired pizza oven, and seared snapper with basil mash, minestrone and rouille. There’s a log-burning stove in the bar for wintry days and a great selection of wines and draught premium lagers.

Blacklock is a modern version of the Great British chophouse. Set in an old brothel, we take the best meat in the country from the award winning farmer and butcher Philip Warren in Cornwall. Situated on level 33 of The Shard, Hutong at The Shard serves the fascinating and diverse cuisines of Northern China and is based on the much-loved restaurant of the same name in Hong Kong. The restaurant was a little hard to find but all perfect once we did. Warm welcome and friendly staff. Our starters and mains were delicious and Leela who looked after us was fantastic. Thanks so much for taking note of my booking message as well and the nice Birthday surprise for my partner. Would definitely visit again, can't wait to try more of the menu!

Fabulous food. If you like chops and steaks, this is a great restaurant. The meat is top quality and superbly seasoned. Really great vibe in the restaurant and the service was top notch - friendly, helpful and fast. Great part of town too, so you really feel like you're getting a proper London experience. Loved it and can thoroughly recommend it.

Always a pleasure. The food and drinks always exceptional. Service always impeccable. The party included a vegetarian and they were blown away with their choices. Was a special occasion and couldn’t have picked a better place. To keep these standards on an incredibly busy period is impressive. No bill has ever felt less than value for money, no matter the amount. Thank you Hawksmoor.

Enjoyed the atmosphere and the staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive. Food is expensive, however the vegetarian cabbage dish was surprisingly yummy. There were only two vegetarian mains and one was not available. It was a bit too cold and the music was a bit too loud for us (although the music itself was enjoyable). If we went again we would perhaps try and sit closer to the fire or further from the back doors.
