The BANG menu is crafted to unite people, drawing influence from Asian flavours to redefine Thai street food. Open Tuesday to Sunday for lunch and dinner, The European offers a welcoming ambience with warm, generous and knowledgeable hospitality - a beacon of Melbourne dining at its finest. Located on Spring Street near the Princess Theatre, we offer classic bistro fare with substance and character to perfectly complement our extensive collection of wines, old and new world, available to enjoy with your meal. We also welcome you on a walk-in basis next door at The City Wine Shop any day of the week, where you may simply pop in for a seat at the bar or grab a spot outside overlooking Parliament House. We take the best seasonal produce available, cooking simple, classic foods. Nose-to-tail offal dishes are centred within our menu, utilising every part of the animal products in our kitchen. Drawing on our own in-house butcher and farmhouse cheeses matured by our friends at Spring Street Cheese Cellar, there is always something new to try on the menu at The European and City Wine Shop.

    Fantastic dining experience, worth a visit! We wanted to try everything in the menu but decided for some different dishes to share. Soo tasty! Friendly and serviceminded staff made the visit even better. I definitely recommend this place. Perfect for a date night or for a group of friends.

    Seriously interesting food. Canoe of bone marrow eg with a nod to St Johns in London (this was better than the one I had there). Excellent wine list unsurprisingly Great service unobtrusive but attentive

    I have been there many times. The chef and other staff have changed . The standard of food and service hasn’t!! It’s a great hotel for any occasion. The food is excellent the start are welcoming knowledgeable and efficient. I am always so happy walking home after a thoroughly wonderful afternoon/ evening spent at the Royal Oak . Love dropping into the front bar with my doggos for a drink occasionally. I am so lucky this is walking distance from home . I walk past two other hotels to get there . Highly recommend!!!

    we couldn’t have had a better experience for christmas day lunch. the food was superb! we had… oysters kingfish crudo prawn cocktails crayfish side salad fries eggnog dessert cremw brûlée thank you to all the staff that looked after us! it was truly a wonderful time
