A typical food love story. A boy meets a girl while eating pizza. He attends culinary school and open’s a pizza restaurant named after the girl. Thus bringing us to Emily! The Manhattan iteration of the Brooklyn based pizzeria centered around a historic brick oven and comforting food. Emily has earned a following for its signature Detroit-style pies and award winning burger. The pizza here is rectangular (not round) and utilizes the "frico" technique, in which cheese is drizzled on the edges of the pie to create a crispy brown exterior. Beyond the main event, the menu extends to include salads and sandwiches, which shouldn't be ignored (think an attention-grabbing burger and a top-notch spicy fried chicken sandwich). Please note, there will be a time limit of 1 hour 30 minutes for guests so we can fairly utilize our limited capacity. Our outdoor dining is enclosed with heaters that will keep you toasty! Service was an A+. From Krista(?) the host to our server and all of the folks in between it was top notch. Where it was a let down for me was the food. Everything was spicy when I didn’t expect it. Yes, I’m a basic white dude.

Del Porto is truly a hidden gem. I know the restaurant well and visited Manolo's many times in that space. The food is excellent and the service was very professional. The portions are large and the prices are on the higher side, but as you know, you get what you pay for! The drinks are excellent as well. I was really excited when I heard that the owners of Del Porto are from the same family that owns La Foccacia and Fiorino in Summit NJ. Both are great restaurants and Del Porto is similar to both of them - perhaps a little more business casual with a great bar. Highly recommend trying it out and checking out Elizabeth!!

I was so excited to have a chance to dine at Emilys while I was in NY. I got the burger because Dax Shepard talks about it so often on his Armchair Expert podcast and it did not disappoint!! It was so delicious and the waffle fries were also crispy and seasoned perfectly! I’m already looking forward to my next visit so I can have it again. Oh and the cocktails were delicious as well! :)
