We are a first come first serve all day restaurant. Walk-ins of all party sizes are encouraged at any time!Our journey started on a quiet West Village street called Carmine. Two brothers, Dave and Pete, made a bold decision. Without any business experience, any real plan, or anything resembling a thought beyond getting through the day, we opened a restaurant. What we had lacked in experience we made up for with spirit and creativity. We did not want to be businessmen. We were artists. Our little shop at 33 Carmine St. was our original canvas. We set out with a simple mission: to create a place where people would want to be. We named it after our dogs, Moose and Goose Lane. Our Flatiron location in September 2020.

Bar Primi is a pasta shop devoted to ‘primi piatti,’ the pasta course. What began as an idea for a small space in New York’s East Village has since become a downtown New York staple, housed on the Bowery for the last ten years. With this second location in Penn District, chef-partner Andrew Carmellini will carry on his same tried and true methods of making fresh pasta traditionally prepared and cooked to order, using a variety of non-GMO semolina and specialty ‘00’ flours, organic eggs and family recipes. We pause for the experience and that in and of itself was lovely. We purchased a cheese tray that could have been displayed a little better; maybe a smaller tray would have made presentation a little better. But for sure the 5 crackers that came with our cheese and grapes were not enough.

Ripaille has been amazingly consistent for decades. Excellent, truly classic French cuisine, not too fancy, but with elegant touches. The owner mingles with the guests, providing an authentic French atmosphere. The space is a little tight, which is also authentic. Nice music. Polite servers. Good wine at good prices.
