The Grain House Restaurant is located on the picturesque 10-acre estate of the Olde Mill Inn in Basking Ridge, NJ. The Grain House structure was originally built as a barn in the 1760’s and was used to store grain for American Revolutionary soldiers. The barn was later moved to its current location and opened as a restaurant in the 1930’s. Today, the Grain House is a renowned restaurant in North/Central New Jersey, with a comfortable, casual ambiance. My wife and I met for Sunday lunch with two close friends on a very cold January afternoon. The dining room was very cozy. We were seated near a blazing wood fireplace which kept us nice and cozy on this bitter winter day. The menu was very inviting. I ordered salmon burger with avocado and a side salad. My wife ordered a harvest salad with grilled salmon and roasted walnuts. Our friends ordered avocado toast with salmon. All the dishes were nicely presented and delicious. The service was friendly and attentive. The only negative was that the noise level was quite high and made conversation a little challenging at times. All in all, a very enjoyable experience and one we look forward to repeating in the future

The ambience sets the tone, when you walk thru the doors and are warmed by the gorgeous fire. The service and food were excellent. We were celebrating a birthday and it was extra special! Thanks!

This little gem is perfect before a show at the Paper Mill, but also for anytime really. Food was great, and while the servers worked hard, their timing could be a little better. Main course being served before appetizers were cleared, etc. other than that little hiccup, the service is great. Overall, it was a great experience.
