The Grain House Restaurant is located on the picturesque 10-acre estate of the Olde Mill Inn in Basking Ridge, NJ. The Grain House structure was originally built as a barn in the 1760’s and was used to store grain for American Revolutionary soldiers. The barn was later moved to its current location and opened as a restaurant in the 1930’s. Today, the Grain House is a renowned restaurant in North/Central New Jersey, with a comfortable, casual ambiance. Our reservation was for 6 people and we came at 5pm. The first impression was that they were not prepared as the hostess was not there, someone else tried to help us instead, restaurant was completely empty and staff was still setting tables:). Then we realized that actually they were just opening and we were the first customers coming a bit too early😊. After 5:30 the restaurant was full of people and very energetic! Food was good, everyone liked their choices, even the cappuccino at the end tasted like an Italian coffee. Although a little pricey for a NJ restaurant, the overall experience was very good and we enjoyed every minute there.

We visited for my boyfriend’s birthday and everything was just perfect! Lovely ambiance, attentive staff, food came in a timely fashion. We ordered a few things but the Mushroom Pizza and Scallop Risotto were our favorites of the night. They also put his name on the board wishing him Happy Birthday which was a lovely touch. Thank you so much! We will be returning soon!!
