A favourite of Clapham Junction's Northcote Road since 1990 - an awfully long time in the London restaurant scene - Osteria Antica Bologna is as fresh and thrilling an Italian restaurant as the day it first opened its doors. It conjures up images of hidden away village osterias in the wild countryside of Emilia Romagna or the rolling hills of Tuscany, its cheerful welcome befitting of an old family favourite. Chef Marzio Zacchi passionately believes in using fresh, locally sourced and seasonal produce having grown up in Biella in the Piemonte countryside surrounded by a family who reared chickens, grew veg and cured their own salami. Located on the Old Brompton Road in South Kensington, Thali serves up authentic dishes from throughout India, many with an appealing modern twist. The grazing style restaurant focuses mainly on North Indian cuisine but also showcases curries and tandoori specials. The menus are based on family recipes, handed down through generations, and enhanced by head chef Dila Ram. We love the sound of tandoori wild boar, for example, or snow crab patties with mint, coriander and spices. The thali offers a selection of dishes, as does the tasting menu – both provide a good introduction. The décor, an interesting mix of cosmopolitan London meets the mystery of the East, ensures Thali attracts a vibrant mix of local foodies and fashionistas. Diners looking for a casual bite are welcomed upstairs to the candlelit restaurant, while the ground floor is reserved for private dining.

Traditional Chinese restaurant situated in Knightsbridge popular with locals as well as business types and the shopped out from Harrods. The decor is all oriental splendour and the atmosphere relaxed and friendly. What's cooking? Traditional Chinese fare. Signature dishes include crispy fragrant duck, steamed seabass and mixed seafood platter. Plenty of vegetarian choices with faux chicken and prawn dishes and a monk's casserole - a mixture of preserved and fresh vegetables cooked in a clay pot.
