Located in historic Blagden Alley in D.C.'s Shaw neighborhood since 2015, The Dabney continues to pay tribute to the wonderful farmers, watermen, and purveyors of the mid-Atlantic region whom provide some of the best and most unique products in the country. We celebrate these ingredients by preparing them in a large wood burning hearth which is the centerpiece of our open kitchen. The current dining room experience is an 8-course tasting menu honoring the Mid-Atlantic's bounty. We offer an additional 3-course experience at our bar and bar area tables. Walk-in guests are welcome to enjoy the bar area as well.The Dabney has been awarded one Michelin star every year since 2017, James Beard Foundation Best Chef Mid-Atlantic for Chef Jeremiah Langhorne in 2018, and Washingtonian Magazine's #1 restaurant in 2023. These folks were great and can cook a duck. The meal started with a little parsnip taste from the kitchen with a black truffle and some sort of cream. We followed that with duck wings that were awesome and then had some of the Brussels that came on the foie Gras…awesome. The thing that really stood out though was the fry in the duck breast. They somehow got the fat rendered and kept the meat moist with getting a hard fry on the breading. Yum. The cigarettes and chocolate dessert was also great. Don’t normally leave reviews but this place has some tasty bites right now.

Our server Luis made a casual Saturday meal into a special occasion. With his knowledge of the kitchen operation, he was able to pace the courses perfectly without our even asking him. Key feature of his great service (and of all high level servers): he listened to us and delivered accordingly. Oh, and the pizza is very tasty too!

It was an office holiday luncheon. It took a few minutes for the waitress to stop by and take our order, but after that slight delay, everything was excellent. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. I plan to return.
