Growing up in Italy, my family cooked at home and had the most extraordinary experiences with ingredients grown in our backyard, paired with the wines my chef/restaurateur stepfather would bring back from regions throughout Italy. I fell in love with food as a child watching my stepfather, once nominated a top chef in Italy, work in restaurant kitchens and floors. Moving to California in 1991 and subsequently to Santa Monica and experiencing the Farmers Market inspired me to start Orto - Italian for “vegetable garden” - where I meld local ingredients and organic herbs grown here at the restaurant to create traditional Italian recipes. At our bar you’ll find a cocktail list created from fresh herbs and premium spirits, and our wine list focuses on sustainable and organic producers. The tequila pairing was a lovely event. I liked that family style seating but you also had the option to sit separately. It was a chilly night but the patio was toasty warm. The food - each and every course - was exceptional. The hostesses were entertaining. the service was friendly, timely and in the right spirit of the event. Loved it!

L’endroit, tout d’abord, est exceptionnel. La décoration est extrêmement original, cosy, quelque soit l’endroit où nous soyons assis. Concernant les plats, ils étaient très bons, gourmands, chatoyants, et nous ne regrettons aucun des fois que nous avons fait. Pour finir, la carte des vins est exceptionnelle et le service attentionné , compétent et particulièrement disponible. Bravo !
