Located in historic Blagden Alley in D.C.'s Shaw neighborhood since 2015, The Dabney continues to pay tribute to the wonderful farmers, watermen, and purveyors of the mid-Atlantic region whom provide some of the best and most unique products in the country. We celebrate these ingredients by preparing them in a large wood burning hearth which is the centerpiece of our open kitchen. The current dining room experience is an 8-course tasting menu honoring the Mid-Atlantic's bounty. We offer an additional 3-course experience at our bar and bar area tables. Walk-in guests are welcome to enjoy the bar area as well.The Dabney has been awarded one Michelin star every year since 2017, James Beard Foundation Best Chef Mid-Atlantic for Chef Jeremiah Langhorne in 2018, and Washingtonian Magazine's #1 restaurant in 2023. At this time we are unable to accommodate severe allium and dairy allergies as well as vegan and vegetarian diets.

    Excellent food - very original and refined I am in total disagreement with the massive main course - but I agree it’s personal and it fits with a Modern American approach Yet for me it caused a brutal breach in what had been so far. Perfect meal - again the direct jump from 2 pounds of meat to desert is harsh On the cocktail side - originality On the wine side - great list - a pity the sommelier does not come to help more - the level of the wine (and its cost) should get us that much Those disappointments should not hide that the place has a great atmosphere and ambiance

    My friend and I had a fabulous experience here, I I’ll definitely be returning. Everything was delicious from the cornbread to the pecan pie, 10s across the board. The service was also top tier, Jakarri had great recommendations and was very attentive.

    This is a really happy place - good food, lively conversations going on all around, good service - and the price is very fair. The location is nicely situated on a fairly busy corner with beautiful windows overlooking downtown DC.

    This was my first time at this restaurant. The decor was quite nice. The food was imaginative and well prepared. The service had issues. We arrived when the restaurant opened. We were seated and then the entire staff disappeared for about 10 minutes. When we asked, the waitstaff said, "for a staff meeting" leaving us with no food or water on the table. I feel a staff meeting should be concluded before the door opens for the evening. Afterward, the service was friendly, enthusiastic and completely incompetent. It appears that the staff has never been trained. This is an up-market restaurant. There was no wine list. The choices were effectively red or white. I had to ask to see the bottle to determine my choice between the two whites. I could go on., but the bottom line is, TRAIN YOUR STAFF!
