Step inside, descend below street level, and enter our vision of a cave. As for the fire, our focal point is a wood burning oven right next to the bar. In 1688, Joseph Haviland built a tidewater gristmill that provided the locally-grown grains to a nearby bakery that supplied farmers and tradesmen with bread. It was the first public oven in New York State. Haviland’s Old Grist Mill and the public bakery were community gathering places for two centuries. Inspired by Joseph Haviland’s noble efforts, the Haviland Kitchen & Bar has been established for our neighbors. This restaurant runs on time so don’t be late for your reservation. It is small and they run it perfectly Carley our waitress was very accommodating. Everybody at the restaurant was so nice. The food was unique and absolutely delicious. We all got fish and the fish was cooked to perfection. The flavors in the entrées were superb .The only downside for me was that the chairs were a little uncomfortable. We 100% will definitely be going back.
