Scalini Fedeli was opened by chef-owner Michael Cetrulo in 1995 and very quickly became New Jersey's highest rated Italian restaurant. Rated excellent by the New York Times in 1996 and New Jersey's favorite restaurant in Zagat's Survey in 2001 and New Jersey Monthly's best Italian and top 25 overall in 2007. Highlights from the menu include soft egg yolk raviolo with black truffle butter, pignoli crusted salmon with artichoke and mint agnolotti in a light tomato and basil broth and braised short ribs of beef with a cherry pepper and port glaze. Set in an historic building built in 1740, the atmosphere is slightly formal with Tuscan style vaulted ceilings finished with Venetian plaster. Tapestry and antique mirrors adorn the walls.

Stephane was the Maitre d'Hotel for 12 years before purchasing Chez Catherine in 2016. His career spans many years at Alain Ducasse's restaurants in NYC and France and before that in a number of other restaurants throughout France.The Chef de Cuisine is Christine Migton. Christine graduated from the Culinary Institute of America. Her dishes revisit traditional French cuisine but use different flavors and tastes.     Certainly a hidden gem! We spent an incredible Christmas Eve dinner at Chez Catherine. The food was spectacular and the maître made great suggestions. The risotto was superb. We are definitely coming back soon!

    We were a party of 6 (long-time - 50 years) friends who met at this restaurant for lunch for a first time as it is 1/2 way between our respective areas. Chose it from online reviews. Asked for a round table so we could talk more easily -- we got that Ordered an assortment of appetizers and some ordered from the lunch special and two ordered chicken parm. Everything was very good-- (one of my friends gave the host his suggestion of how to prepare chicken parm -- he said it was good but just too thick- maybe pound it more -- well, if you were to know my friend-- just ignore him !!) anyway -- we all enjoyed this restaurant and as for the waiter -- TOTALLY COOL and really did a GREAT JOB providing us with EXCELLENT SERVICE throughout our more than 2 hours there.. wish I knew this server's name (told to us but we were all talking too much and I can't hear anyway) but, if you go there for lunch this waiter will be outstanding in many ways.. all in all -- anyone living in this area has a great place for Greek (and some Italian) food! Enjoy!

    We visited for my boyfriend’s birthday and everything was just perfect! Lovely ambiance, attentive staff, food came in a timely fashion. We ordered a few things but the Mushroom Pizza and Scallop Risotto were our favorites of the night. They also put his name on the board wishing him Happy Birthday which was a lovely touch. Thank you so much! We will be returning soon!!
