The Durham Ox is a family owned traditional village Inn offering friendly and efficient service; showcasing the best of local produce in our menu, as well as stocking an extensive range of wines and cask ales. An award winning traditional pub complete with flag stone floors, exposed beams, oak panelling and roaring fires in winter. (We have dog friendly tables, but these are limited so please do call us to secure one if your dog is dining with us.)As well as our extensive restaurant areas, The Durham Ox has several spaces for Private Dining to celebrate any occasion and can seat between 10-85 guests for a formal or informal dinner. Arrived an hour before our lunch booking and were seated with no problem. Ordered from the market menu, 3 delicious courses with a glass of fizz. Super efficient and polite staff, great ambiance. My 2nd visit, won’t be the last. Definitely a ‘go to’ destination in York for lunch or dinner

Amazing quality of food. Fantastic service. Wanted something special for wife's birthday and our anniversary and it didn't disappoint. Given couple of Proseccos on the house and made to feel really special. Had couple of starters and then the signature flat iron steaks with accompaniments and it was cooked perfect and tasted amazing. Will definitely return.

Our afternoon Tea was excellent. I have over my many years eaten in various places for afternoon tea but I must confess at the GRAND HOTEL, York, is most definately the best. My compliments to the chefs who prepare the food (sandwiches, scones and cakes). You can taste every flavour. Well done, you most definitely get my vote 100% and excellent value for money.
