Bright and airy, with a vintage retro style and featuring distressed wooden tables topped in white marble, salvage greenhouse window frames and comfy linen banquettes, Salt continues Avoca’s emphasis on serving delicious, seasonal dishes with largely locally sourced ingredients. Salt's name comes its Salthill locale - which itself was derived from salt works that were once here - plus the nearby sea and, of course, the seasoning. Menus are fresh and interesting (see below), with plenty of appetizing salads and lighter lunch dishes, reasonably priced for the casual mid-week crowd.

Roly's Bistro first opened its doors in 1992 and has served traditional European cuisine ever since. Lunch is served in the Bistro on Wednesday to Sunday with Monday and Tuesday lunch being served in The Terrace Restaurant. Dinner is served in the Bistro seven evenings a week. The menu caters for most palates with a Goat's cheese and vegetable tart and a selection of meat dishes from Roly's butcher block, such as sirloin steak and rib of prime Irish steak. Excellent food with the right size portions for a 3 course meal. The complementary small tasty soup is a lovely gesture and all the courses are beautifully presented and taste great. Warm but unobtrusive service and no rushing customers to get the table back. Highly recommended.

Enjoyed Thursday night burger special with Lobster tail, delicious food and fantastic friendly service. Lovely ambience sitting in window seats and people watching. Highly recommend.
