Welcome to Mikey and Mel’s, a living tribute to two great men who knew and loved a great deli experience. Our dad, Mikey and grandfather, Mel were deli “regulars,” dining at their favorite Cleveland, Ohio places. Mikey and grandfather. They savored juicy pastrami and corned beef, amazingly fresh pickles and intensely huge deserts. Their daily deli lunches were times to conduct business, strike deals and make friends. We often joined our dad and grandfather at the deli table. We remember the sights, smells and sounds of our favorite local deli–from the simple comforting decor to the aroma of deli meats and sour pickles. We also recall the brash and snarky staff. While we will always miss Mikey and Mel, we’ve decided there’s no better way to pay homage to two great men than by opening an old fashioned deli named for them. We are proud to invite you to enhance your own deli traditions here at Mikey and Mel’s.

The White Oak Tavern is a family-owned business, operated by a brother & sister that are Ellicott City locals. The menu includes seasonal scratch made items, sustainable meats & produce from local farms and purveyors. The White Oak Burger is a community favorite and has been recognized as the best burger in Howard County for several years. The outdoor patio is dog friendly with a special dog menu.     Food and service were amazing! We shared the plantain appetizer with the beef on top, I got the Caribbean salmon and my husband got a mojito and a white meat chicken dish. Everything was amazing. Bonuses were the very cool atmosphere and that the food and drinks came out quickly, but not like they were rushing you out. Highly recommend!

    Our server, Stefanie, was excellent. We had a wonderful time. The Mediterranean salad is very generous. Crispy brussel sprouts were a good starter. We also loved the eggplant parmesan.

    Service was great, food was good, dessert was the best and me being a dumb dumb left my wallet they blew my phone until I answered to let me know they were holding my wallet till I came back. Very appreciated. Will definitely be coming back. For the food. Not my wallet. Already grabbed it lol 🤣

    Even the unfortunate fire alarm on Christmas Day couldn't spoil the mood or the meal. We had such great food and fun, and cannot possibly recommend the resto highly enough. There was nothing like this in Columbia, when I was growing up. Hats off to positive change. I just want to know when Clove and Cardamom is coming to Montgomery County, where I now live - or, DC where I work. I'll be sure to bring my friends...often!

    Food was really good, mostly had breakfast items like the waffle and the pancakes. Service was fine but seemed a bit busy for the number of servers on duty. Overall, a good experience, will be returning!
