Translating to “witch” in Italian, La Strega’s sophisticated yet playful atmosphere bewitchingly transports guests to Italy immediately upon arrival. Greens, clays, and earth tones make up its color palette, while full moon-shaped bulbs on brass chandeliers illuminate the space. The restaurant’s artistic centerpiece is a one‐of‐a‐kind mural that spans multiple walls throughout the restaurant, telling the story of the witches of Benevento which inspired the genesis of La Strega, a tale best told by the head Strega herself, Chef Gina Marinelli. How do you take a classic staple of American dining, the steakhouse, and break down the traditional thinking to create something entirely new and exciting? That was the question that acclaimed chef and restaurateur Sam Marvin (creator of the much-celebrated Los Angeles restaurant Bottega Louie) posed when he decided the time was right to reinvent what has long been the trademarks of the steakhouse genre – masculine vibe, dark rooms, fancy waiters, slabs of oversized beef and overly expensive pricing.
