Casual waterfront dining right on the docks of the Patchogue River, The Oar serves up fresh and delicious steaks and seafood. Chefs prepare specialties like coconut shrimp, 36 oz sizzling prime porterhouse, lobster quesadillas and fresh Bluepoint oysters and little clams which are delivered daily. Two dining rooms are decorated in traditional nautical style. The front wall in made up of French doors that open onto the water, providing dockside open air seating in warm months and picturesque views of the marina year-round. I always enjoy coming to Dunns River. The music is good, the food is amazing and it’s the only sit down Caribbean experience that is top tier compared to the normal hole in the wall establishments with the plex glass separating the customers. Home run for date night. My only wish is that the music isn’t so loud all the time. It’s so hard to have a conversation. I stayed away from Friday & Saturday and picked a weekday date night thinking it would be a quieter background noise kind of night. Nope. We were still shouting at each other. After our meal we ending up walking around in the rain so we could hear each other lol. Something to consider for management maybe.
