Ruta Oaxaca Mexican Cuisine opened in Astoria in 2021 with such a wonderful and successful home run that a second location opened in Patchogue in March 2022. Ruta Oaxaca means “Road to Oaxaca,” a historic state in the southern part of Mexico. Mr. Castillo and his Partners are keenly focused on honoring Oaxacan culinary traditions, whose fame is derived in great part from its many varieties of moles. By legend, these ancient recipes are more than sauces, they are the very focus of the meal. Ruta Oaxaca proudly features four moles, each prepared using the Oaxacan mole recipes that have made the cuisine world famous. The service and food were excellent from the minute we sat until we left. I had the octopus appetizer as a meat and it was pleanty. My daughter had the scallops which were excellent - both in presentation and taste. We were not rushed at all and had plenty of time to enjoy and talk. We will certainly be back.

Amazing establishment. Food was just mouth watering . Great place for a date night or just a girls brunch . We had an amazing waitress who took care of us so well . Owner was sensational as well. This place is a must !

Welcoming and attentive service made this business luncheon comfortable and productive, but the food was a little disappointing. The half soup / half sandwich offering is a good value, nicely presented, and creatively prepared. The soup should have been hotter, and the chicken sandwich had chunks of sour rhubarb and a drippy sauce that made it too messy to eat without a fork. Super friendly service and a great vibe will make me want to try again and order something different.
