Beauty & Essex has an innovative design that starts in the restaurant’s entrance, a well-curated modern-day pawn shop replete with a saxophone, boombox, quirky artifacts, vintage treasures, and an eclectic array of “one-off” pieces of jewelry. It’s always a pleasure to dine at the River Cafe. It’s the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion!! We had the privilege to be seated in the area served by the excellent captain Bernie. He is friendly, attentive, and professional!!

Gorgeous setting. We had river views in summer there are outside tables. A stylish restaurant with a central bar area. The food was fast and delicious and had a great vegetarian selection. About 5mins walk from York Street. Really can’t recommend this place enough.

The service was great and the dishes are delicious. My all family were satisfied very much. We ordered samosas, crispy spinach, tandoori chicken, tikka masala and saag paneer. All were delicious but crispy spinach was my daughter’s favorite.

Had a wonderful 13th anniversary dinner last night at Modern Love. Everything was perfect, the food especially was fabulous as always, and service was also excellent. Such a comforting vegan oasis, we are so lucky to have Modern Love for all of our celebrations!

Es zog sehr und es war extrem kalt im Restaurant. Ohne dicke Jacke war an ein gemütliches Essen nicht zu denken. Unangenehm. Das Essen hingegen war sehr gut.
